Swami Dipankar is a far-right Hindu monk and a prominent hate speech peddler with a massive online following—more than 1.7 million on Facebook, 383,000 on Instagram and 518,000 followers on X. He has built his influence by pushing Islamophobic conspiracies, spreading anti-Muslim propaganda, and whipping up communal paranoia under the guise of protecting Hinduism.
On October 22, 2024, at the Hindu Swabhiman Yatra in Kishanganj, Bihar, he railed against secularism and promoted the false ‘love jihad’ conspiracy, claiming that those who call themselves secular are blind to “atrocities against Hindus.” He continues to exploit the ‘love jihad’ myth—an unfounded claim that Muslim men trap Hindu women into marriage for religious conversion—to deepen communal divisions and fuel right-wing radicalization.
Two months later, on December 22, at the Santan event in Jaipur, Rajasthan, organized by the extremist group Navonmesh ORG, Dipankar gave a speech laced with dog whistles and outright falsehoods. In it, he questioned Hyderabad’s identity as part of India, stoked fears about the presence of Rohingya refugees, and painted Muslims as infiltrators, reinforcing the long-standing Hindutva propaganda that minorities pose an existential threat to the Hindu majority.
In an interview with NMF News, Swami Dipankar peddled blatant misinformation and fear-mongering, falsely claiming that India is home to “five crore Rohingya infiltrators” who must be removed from India. “This is not a dharamshala where anyone can just come and live,” he declared, framing refugees as a threat to the nation. Doubling down on his anti-Muslim propaganda, he propagated the ‘spit jihad’ conspiracy — a fabricated claim designed to demonize Muslim food vendors – alleging that Muslims deliberately spit in food to target Hindus, calling it an “embarrassment” and warning Hindus to stay vigilant.
By January 2025, his Islamophobic fear mongering had made its way to mainstream media. The News Broadcasters and Digital Standards Authority (NBDSA) ordered News18 Rajasthan to take down a video featuring Dipankar over the Tirupati laddu controversy.
The broadcast, which suggested—without evidence—that the presence of beef fat in the sacred laddu was linked to the Congress party, was deemed a clear violation of media guidelines. In the interview, the News18 anchor openly indulged Dipankar’s inflammatory claims, fueling yet another manufactured controversy designed to inflame communal tensions.
Dipankar thrives on Islamophobic propaganda, using his religious image to push the Hindutva agenda and justify anti-Muslim hate.
