Suraj Tiwari, a Bajrang Dal, former VHP District Security Head from Lucknow, is a staunch Hindutva supporter who has long used social media to incite communal hatred and glorify majoritarian aggression.
In 2020, during the national COVID-19 lockdown, Tiwari communalized the Palghar lynching incident—despite police ruling out any religious motive—and released a video threatening Muslims and secular Hindus. Brandishing a sword and dripping with slurs, he urged Hindu men to defy lockdown orders and take to the streets in protest.
The video (now deleted), posted on April 23, 2020, garnered over a million views and tens of thousands of shares and comments, amplifying his violent message. He claimed that the real threat to India wasn’t the pandemic but “jamaatis” and openly fantasized about executing those he labeled traitors, including Muslims and secular Hindus. He also publicly declared he had made lists of such people and encouraged others to do the same.
In another video (now deleted), he spoke about drawing up lists of secular Hindus for punishment, declaring they were a greater threat than Muslims. He repeatedly claimed that India’s real enemy was not the coronavirus, but the ‘jamaatis’, referring to Tablighi Jamaat members.
Tiwari calls himself a ‘kattar Hindu’ and repeatedly incites violence under the guise of protecting Hindu interests, often saying Hindus need to take the law into their own hands.
In 2025, he continues to operate online with a following of 28,000 on Facebook. Though he now also identifies as a fitness trainer.
