Sunanda Roy is a far-right influencer with 99.5K followers on X (formerly Twitter) and 10.8K on Instagram, where she describes herself as “Dharmik. Anti-feminazi. Anti-Libtards.” Roy regularly uses her platform to promote Hindu supremacist rhetoric, disinformation, and anti-Muslim propaganda. She openly defends BJP MPs using abusive language, hate speech, and slurs in Indian Parliament.
In January 2025, Roy jumped on a statement by U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, who suggested using economic force to merge Canada with America. Roy used this comment to push bigotry against Canadian Sikhs, who have been the victim of transnational repression by the Indian government, “Hopefully Trump will take care of Khalistanis in Canada.”
In January 2025, Roy posted a video glorifying British far-right activist Tommy Robinson, a self-proclaimed anti-Islam campaigner who has been arrested multiple times and was accused of playing a pivotal role in sparking race riots against Muslims in the UK in 2024.
Roy tweeted in defense of Robinson’s anti-Muslim hate speech, saying, “40 Police officers forcefully arrested Tommy Robinson just for exposing Grooming Gangs run by Pakistani Islamists. He was just trying to warn and save his countrymen.” The tweet garnered 49k likes and 15k retweets.
On the same day, Roy posted a cartoon depicting Muslim men raping a European girl, feeding into far-right propaganda about “Muslim grooming gangs”. Roy captioned the post with, “Grooming gangs and left parties are doing the same in the UK and other parts of Europe. Liberals destroyed Europe in the name of Multiculturalism.” The tweet was viewed 4k times.
In Jan 2025, Roy shared a fake image depicting an explosion, captioning it: “This is not an AI image. This is not a movie scene. This is Gaza,” followed by a laughing emoji. Her followers similarly celebrated the deaths of civilians in Gaza beneath the post.
In December 2024, Roy—posted a disturbing video showing the lifeless bodies of three children and a woman, captioning it with the Hindu supremacist propaganda claim that the incident took place in Bangladesh. She wrote, “Bangladeshi Radicals are not stopping. Islamists raped a woman and attacked her children too. She and her children are badly injured. They vandalized her house too. And that devil Soros is openly supporting the Yunus govt. Save Bangladeshi Hindus.” The claim had been previously debunked by AltNews, which found that the incident was a case of murder-suicide that took place in Bihar.
In April 2024, Roy tweeted that a group of Muslim men had abducted a girl outside Quest Mall in Kolkata while her family was waiting for a cab. The fake news story in her tweet racked up over 165,000 views and 3,030 retweets before it was deleted. Roy further alleged that four such incidents had occurred in 10 days and warned Hindus to avoid malls until the elections were over. All her claims were swiftly debunked by Kolkata Police.
