Sujay Vikhe Patil is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and a former member of the Congress party from which he defected in 2019, based in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. He is the son of Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, also a former member of the Congress party who defected to the BJP. He is known for publicly supporting hate mongers, making false claims that Muslims are using democratic participation as a weapon and calling spiritual followers “beggars” for eating free meals.
In September 2024, in a show of solidarity on-stage during a public event, Patil touched the feet of Ramgiri Maharaj, a right-wing Hindu religious leader, known for making inflammatory remarks against Prophet Mohammad and Islam.
In January 2025, Patil urged the Shirdi Sai Baba Sansthan, a spiritual organization, to discontinue its free meal service and instead use the funds for the future and education of children. He went on to say that this service encouraged “beggars” from across Maharashtra to come to Shirdi for free meals, warning that he would launch an agitation to press for this demand, if necessary.
“The entire country is flocking here for free meals. It is unfair that beggars from across Maharashtra gather here for free food. This is not acceptable,” said Patil. He also criticized the Sansthan’s educational initiatives saying, “Despite spending crores on constructing educational facilities, the quality of teachers remains poor.”
In June 2025, Patil supported the false claim of “Vote Jihad,” a conspiracy theory peddled by Hindutva groups and leaders that Muslim votes undermine Hindu interests. This was during a meeting of the Sakal Hindu Samaj, an umbrella organization of Hindtuva groups, in support of Sangram Jagtap, a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of the Nationalist Congress Party from Maharashtra.
Patil regularly posts content in support of the Shiv Sena and BJP, both Hindutva political parties, on his social media. He also posts content in support of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), its leaders and its activities. He has also shown support for Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, the ideologue behind Hindutva, by posting an image that says “I am Savarkar” in Marathi.
