Pankaj Singh is a hardline Hindutva leader affiliated with the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), known for spreading virulent anti-Muslim speeches in Bihar’s Khagaria district. In November 2023, while addressing a public gathering, Singh delivered a deeply inflammatory speech accusing Muslim men of trapping Hindu women in what he described as a “love jihad” conspiracy.

He claimed that Muslim youths deliberately elope with Hindu girls, convert them through marriage under Islamic rites, and then abandon them after a fixed period, alleging a transactional system backed by mosque committees that supposedly reward such acts based on the caste of the girl.

Singh went on to assert that Muslim men receive large sums of money—up to 12 lakhs—for marrying Brahmin women and similar amounts for others, reading out what he described as “rate charts.” He suggested that when the girl refuses to leave the man or resists conversion, she is either killed, pushed into prostitution, or trafficked abroad. With shocking ease, he linked gruesome deaths of women found in suitcases to what he claimed were the consequences of love jihad, alleging that “lakhs of Hindu girls” have fallen victim. He also praised Bajrang Dal for “rescuing” several women, but warned that the threat still looms large.

This speech was part of a wider pattern of incitement as the Lok Sabha elections drew near, with Singh intensifying communal hatred and fearmongering. He also made sweeping allegations against the Muslim community, accusing them of terrorism, cow slaughter, and encroachment of Hindu temples, urging Hindus to rise and “fight back.”
