Munesh Dedha

Affiliation: Bharatiya Janata Party
Vocation/Title: BJP councillor, Kondli
Categories: Hate Mongers
Location: Delhi

Munesh Dedha, a BJP councillor from Kondli in Delhi, has used his position to target Muslim vendors under the guise of protecting Hindu religious sentiments. On March 28, she went from stall to stall in the Kondli market, ordering the closure of all non-vegetarian shops for the nine days of Navratri. The meat shops he targeted were predominantly Muslim-owned.

Just days later, on March 31, she forcibly shut down one such meat shop, threatening permanent closure if it reopened before the festival ended.

Dedha’s actions were not isolated. They came at a time when BJP leaders across Delhi were actively pushing for a crackdown on meat shops during Navratri. Ministers had already called for action against so-called “illegal” vendors, and BJP MLAs had demanded full closures. Dedha’s conduct fits neatly into this larger campaign—one that openly uses Hindu festivals as a tool to harass Muslim livelihoods. Her threats and enforcement were not backed by any formal order but relied purely on intimidation and the political climate that allowed it.
