Manendra Pratap Singh, a Hindu nationalist leader from Uttar Pradesh and former Karni Sena state president, has built his public life on aggressive communal mobilization. As the leader of the Maharaja Suheldev Samman Suraksha Manch, Singh has targeted the Syed Salar Ghazi Dargah in Prayagraj, pushing for its demolition under the claim that it was originally a Shiva temple.
On March 30, 2025, Singh led a protest rally where his supporters raised communal and abusive slogans, openly demanding that the shrine be replaced with a Hindu temple.
Just days later, on April 6, during Ram Navami celebrations, Singh escalated his campaign by leading a group of around 25 to 30 activists on motorbikes to the dargah. They climbed the gate and the roof of the tomb, hoisted saffron flags, and chanted “Jai Shri Ram,” branding Salar Masood Ghazi an invader and asserting that there should be no place for him in a religious city like Prayagraj.
Singh and his group submitted a memorandum to the Prayagraj District Magistrate and Police Commissioner, demanding not only the demolition of the dargah but also the removal of the weekly fair held at the site. They alleged that the shrine facilitated illegal activities like forced conversions and black magic, using these claims to stoke fear and justify their calls for violent erasure.
