Khagendra Bhargava, a senior VHP leader in Madhya Pradesh, has been one of the most vocal figures driving the Hindutva campaign to claim Muslim religious sites and expand the temple agenda across India. He has repeatedly called for a nationwide takeover, pushing beyond Ayodhya, Mathura, and Kashi, and making it clear that the campaign will not stop until Hindu supremacy is asserted over all contested sites.
On December 10, 2024, during a VHP-Bajrang Dal meeting in Jhabua, Bhargava declared that Hindus initially sought only three temples, but because the Muslim community refused to concede, the Ram Mandir was built through their own efforts. With Kashi and Mathura now next in line, he made an unequivocal statement that they would not stop at these three, but would reclaim the entire country. His speech was a direct call for widespread encroachment on Muslim sites, making it clear that the movement was far from over.
Three months later, on March 16, 2025, Bhargava escalated his campaign, using religious gatherings to rally Hindus toward militant action. At a Trishul Deeksha event in Garoth, Mandsaur, he framed the Babri Mosque as a “sign of slavery” and questioned why it was built 500 years ago, reinforcing his call for the systematic erasure of Muslim history in India.
On the same day in Sitamau, Mandsaur, he glorified the demolition of Babri, declaring that “Jai Shri Ram” was the war cry of Hindu warriors during its destruction. Attendees at the event pledged to wield trishuls and work as members of the Bajrang Dal, further solidifying his push for organized aggression.
