Ashu Thakur is a hardline Hindutva leader known for her incendiary speeches against Muslims and Christians across Maharashtra. She has openly called for violence, promoted conspiracy theories, and pushed for the social and economic boycott of Muslims. Thakur’s speeches are filled with derogatory remarks, calls to arms, and dehumanizing language, positioning her as one of the most aggressive voices in the Hindutva movement.
On December 4, 2023, in Nashik, she stood before a gathering and spewed hate against Muslims, calling them “Jihadis” and blaming them for “Love Jihad,” a widely debunked conspiracy theory. She ridiculed Muslim women for wearing burqas and warned Hindu women against marrying Muslim men, telling them they would be “cut up in 100 pieces” if they did. Her speech, which was captured on video and circulated widely, left no doubt about her intentions—she wanted Hindus to prepare for confrontation. She declared herself a “kattar Hindu,” a staunch defender of Hindutva, and made it clear that silence should not be mistaken for weakness. “We do not have to tell Hindus which houses they ought to enter and whom to tear apart,” she threatened.
A few weeks later, in January 2024, in Sonai, Ahmednagar, Thakur addressed the Virat Dharma Sabha, organized by the Sakal Hindu Samaj. This time, she escalated her speech even further, calling for outright violence against Muslims. She painted them as enemies of Hinduism, spreading fear and hate while urging Hindus to unite against them. She called for a complete boycott of Muslims, pushing for their economic and social isolation.
Thakur’s words fuel the climate of hate, emboldening violent mobs and normalizing the idea that attacking minorities is a legitimate form of Hindu self-defense.
