Anupamanand Giri, a Hindu priest and leading figure of the Hindu Raksha Dal in Uttarakhand, has built his public image around explicit hate speech and anti-Muslim campaigns. On April 24, 2025, while speaking in Daraun district, Giri openly called for a total boycott of Muslims. He urged Hindus to avoid buying vegetables or clothes from Muslims, and not to hire anyone from what he described as the “jihadi community.” His call to economically isolate Muslims was not just divisive—it was a dangerous escalation in the weaponisation of religious identity in everyday life.
Just weeks earlier, on April 9, in Herbertpur, Dehradun, Giri led a group of Hindu Raksha Dal members who detained a Muslim man transporting meat, accusing him of carrying beef and handing him over to the police. They demanded forensic testing of the meat, stoking communal suspicion and harassment without evidence.
Through repeated public threats and inflammatory speeches, Anupamanand Giri has established himself as a key religious leader fanning communal hate in Uttarakhand.
