Anshu Tuteja, a BJP leader from Raigarh, Chhattisgarh, has been at the forefront of a series of targeted actions against the Christian community.

His brand of Hindutva politics is defined by mob-led intimidation, direct confrontations, and demands for punitive action against religious minorities. Over the past few months, he has led multiple raids, protests, and threats against Christians, often under the pretext of curbing religious conversions.

On November 4, 2024, Tuteja led a group of Hindu nationalists to a Christian man’s home, harassing him over the presence of a Bible and turning the situation into a house raid. Days later, on November 10, he staged a protest outside a Christian pastor’s residence, chanting “Jai Shree Ram” and accusing him of organizing illegal prayer meetings. On his complaint, police detained several individuals.

His campaign escalated in December. On December 4, he led a mob to harass a cattle seller and buyers, accusing them of smuggling cows for slaughter. The buyers insisted they were purchasing the cattle for farm use, but Tuteja dismissed their claims and forced them to the police, demanding legal action.

 On December 8, he stormed a Christian household, disrupting a prayer meeting and accusing attendees of mass religious conversion.

 Then, on December 29, he raided a local church, alleging it was built on illegally encroached land. Days later, a video surfaced of him issuing an ultimatum to authorities, demanding the church’s demolition within three days, threatening to tear it down himself if no action was taken.

By January 2025, Tuteja had turned his campaign into a full-scale offensive against the Christian community, targeting churches in Raigarh. He has repeatedly accused religious leaders of converting Hindus under the guise of prayer meetings and pressured local authorities to act against Christian places of worship. His pattern of mob-led intimidation, police involvement, and demolition threats reflects an aggressive Hindutva strategy aimed at asserting dominance and pushing religious minorities to the margins.

On March 28, 2025, Tuteja, accompanied by police, visited Christian households, accusing them of converting Hindus and promoting Christianity through prayer meetings. He attempted to coerce them into admitting they had been misled into conversion, but the residents firmly denied the allegations.
