Akshata Tendulkar, the BJP president of Mahim Assembly in Mumbai, has gained notoriety for openly targeting religious minorities through acts of intimidation and communal provocation. Known for her aggressive public behavior, Tendulkar has used her political position to harass, threaten, and incite hatred, particularly against Muslims and Christians.
On July 3, 2024, she disrupted a Christian prayer meeting in Prabhadevi, Dadar, accusing the participants of forced religious conversions. She heckled those present and interfered with the event, stirring communal tensions under the pretext of protecting Hindu faith.
This incident was not an isolated act of intolerance. In December 2024, Tendulkar targeted Muslim vendors in a Dadar market, hurling accusations that they were illegal Bangladeshi immigrants and ordering them to leave.
Just days before, on December 1, she led an anti-Bangladesh protest in Mumbai where violent slogans like “Goli mar salo ko” and “Bangladeshi Bharat chhodo” were shouted under her watch. Protesters even screamed that they would chant “Ram Ram” only after spilling blood, revealing the violent undertone of the gathering.
In August 2024, Tendulkar approached a traffic constable, Zoheb Shakeel Sayyed, over parking by street vendors. What began as a civic complaint quickly took a communal turn. Sayyed later alleged that Tendulkar made derogatory comments about his religion and suggested that some people in the area were from Pakistan and Bangladesh and should be deported. Tendulkar countered with her own complaint, accusing Sayyed of insulting Hindus and invoking atrocities against them in Bangladesh.
