Abhay Singh, a Bharatiya Janata Party leader from Jharkhand, has emerged as a prominent figure in peddling anti-Muslim hate speech and inflammatory remarks, often using election-related events to amplify his hate speech. Known for his staunch Hindutva stance, Singh frequently invokes communal fears and conspiracy theories targeting the Muslim community.
On May 20, 2024, during an event in Govindpur, Dhanbad, Singh claimed that Muslims, particularly Bangladeshi migrants, were infiltrating India to disrupt its social and political fabric. He accused them of carrying out so-called “love jihad” and “land jihad,” urging Hindus to remain vigilant. His speech painted a picture of Hindus under siege, warning that India, surrounded by Muslim-majority nations, must protect its Hindu identity.
Earlier, on January 14, 2024, at an event in Jamshedpur, Singh openly called for Hindus to reclaim the Taj Mahal and the Shahi Idgah mosque in Mathura, linking these demands to the Ayodhya movement. He spoke of historical grievances, vowing that Hindus would restore their dominance over places they believe to have been “betrayed.” Singh’s fiery declarations, such as “Mathura will be ours, Taj Mahal will be ours,” sought to stoke Hindu nationalist fervor.
In Bagbera, Purbi Singhbhum, on October 28, 2023, Singh escalated his attacks, accusing Muslims of plotting to turn India into a Muslim nation. He spread baseless claims about Muslim men luring Hindu women through fake identities and forcing them to convert after marriage. Warning Hindus to “keep an eye on their daughters,” he painted Muslims as a looming threat to the nation and its culture.
On May 13, 2024, in Hazaribagh, Singh again invoked the bogey of “love jihad,” claiming that conversions were an organized effort to undermine Hindu society. Referring to historical figures and misinterpreted texts, he urged Hindus to take action before it was too late, calling for resistance against what he described as a deliberate attempt to erode their cultural heritage.
Through his speeches, Abhay Singh has positioned himself as a vocal proponent of Hindutva politics in Jharkhand.
