Ranveer Allahbadia, who goes by the internet moniker BeerBiceps, is a popular YouTuber, podcaster and social media influencer from Mumbai, Maharashtra. He regularly interviews controversial guests, including right-wing politicians, pseudo-intellectuals and spiritual leaders and his content is rife with conspiracy theories, false claims, hate speech, and religious discrimination toward Muslims.
In May 2023, Allahbadia posted an interview with a Hindutva lawyer J. Sai Deepak on his YouTube channel, asking him to name three people who should leave India and never return. Deepak replied to the controversial question with Romila Thapar and Irfan Habib, both historians of international repute, as well as Barkha Dutt, a senior journalist, who were all victims of relentless online harassment and cyberbullying as a result. Deepak even stated that India would only be safe only with a Hindu majority, with Allahbadia promoting the Hindu nationalist message.
Allahbadia has interviewed numerous high-ranking right-wing officials of the Indian government including S. Jaishankar, Smriti Irani and Piyush Goyal.
In March 2024, Allahbadia won the “Disruptor of the Year” awarded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as part of the National Creators Awards to recognize the work of content creators in fields such as social change, culture, education, etc. However, in February 2024, he faced backlash after he made sexually explicit comments on a comedy talent show. This triggered the introduction of a controversial Broadcasting Bill in the Indian Parliament as several press associations and civil society organizations alleged that it impinged on free speech online.
Allahbadia regularly posts short clips of his controversial interviews on his social media.
