Sanjay Sinha, also known as Sanjay Hindu Sinha, claims to be the joint-general secretary of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh (UP). He is known for inciting violence against minorities.

In December 2022, Sinha posted a video on Facebook, which has since been deleted after going viral, to distribute licensed swords along with sticks for free.

“Free of cost training of lathi (sticks) for 15-days, knives for one month, swords for one month and kung fu for three months, after which license of swords with sticks and knives will be given for free. Training place is Bal Upasana Kendra located in Lohia Nagar, Ashapur. Limited seats, register today, membership fee, Rs 100,” Sinha said in the video. Carrying weapons without a license is punishable with a jail term and a fine under the Arms Act.

VHP’s Varanasi President Kanhaiya Singh insisted that Sinha made the announcement in his personal capacity and distanced the organization from the incident. However the VHP and other Hindutva organizations are known to offer arms training to their volunteers, justifying it as “physical exercise.”

Sinha regularly posts vicious anti-minority content and hate posts against Muslims on his social media, while promoting child volunteers in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He also discriminates against women and promotes misogynistic views.
