Prakash Rai

Affiliation: Hindu Kranti Dal
Vocation/Title: State Head
Categories: Hate Mongers
Location: Assam

Prakash Rai is the President of the Hindu Kranti Dal in Dibrugarh, Assam. He regularly makes inflammatory remarks regarding minorities, especially Bangladeshi Muslims and refugees in India. He often participates in rallies propagating conspiracy theories about forced religious conversions and violence committed by minorities.

In August 2024, Rai took out a protest rally in Dibrugarh against alleged atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh with hundreds in attendance.

“We want safety and security of Hindu people living in Bangladesh. We want these atrocities to be stopped in Bangladesh immediately. Prime Minister Narendra Modi should act and take steps for safety and security of Hindus in Bangladesh and if they can’t act, we will drive the Bangladeshi miyas from Assam,” said Rai, referring to Muslims from Bangladesh.

In April 2024, Rai also threatened violence against Christians over alleged religious conversions during a rally.

“We won’t file FIRs at police stations. That’s why, repeatedly clarifying from this stage, those Christians who have converted the Hindu society, not just in Assam but have targeted every state of India. They live in a Hindu country, and converting in exchange for money, the Hindu Kranti Dal will not tolerate this. If the conversion of Hindus continues, the Hindu Kranti Dal will stop it in our own style, just like how Lachit Barphukan cut his uncle’s head, saying, “Uncle isn’t greater than the country.

(Lachit Barphukan, an Ahom general who defeated the Mughals in 1671, has been used in Assam as a political allegory for defeating Muslims in contemporary times.)

Rai regularly posts videos of inflammatory speeches on his social media and goes by Yogi Prakash Nath on his social media handles.
