Mahesh Landge, BJP MLA from Bhosari in Pune district, has used his public platform to push a hardline Hindutva agenda, repeatedly targeting religious minorities and encouraging violence in the name of Hindu pride.
In multiple speeches, Landge has glorified cow vigilantism and openly endorsed aggression against Christians and Muslims. On November 17, 2024, while addressing a gathering in Bhosari, he declared that his Hindutva is specifically directed at those who admire Aurangzeb.
He boasted of aggressively prosecuting people accused of cow slaughter and urged Hindus to emulate the Bishnoi community, warning that anyone who harms cows should not be spared.
“We work very aggressively against Cow slaughter. I have done everything in power to prosecute people who are involved in cow slaughter. I ask my Hindu brother to adopt the same approach as the Bishnoi community, they don’t leave anyone who messes with deer, we should also not spare anyone who does anything to our cows,” Landge said.
Earlier that year, on February 24, 2024, Landge took the stage at a Hindu Jan Akroash Morcha rally in Newasa, Ahmednagar, and delivered a hate-filled speech targeting Christians. He accused them of forced religious conversions and called for violent resistance, directly encouraging mob action against Christian communities.
His targeting of Muslims has been equally dangerous. On September 4, 2023, at a public event in Pune, he labelled Muslim neighbourhoods as terrorist hubs and warned of another Babri-like demolition, invoking the 1992 destruction as a model to repeat.
