Sushil Sudele is a long-time leader of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and the Madhya Pradesh convener of the VHP-Bajrang Dal, known for his aggressive promotion of Hindutva. His speeches and actions have consistently targeted Muslim religious sites and symbols, often calling for their removal or “reclaiming” in the name of Hindu pride.

On December 29, 2024, at a Shaurya Sanchalan event in Narsinghgarh, Rajpur, organised by the VHP-Bajrang Dal to mark the anniversary of the Babri Mosque demolition, Sudele stood before a crowd and vowed that if Ayodhya, Kashi, and Mathura were not fully handed over to Hindus, then thirty thousand Islamic sites would be taken down, promising that not a single mazar would be left standing.

He also praised the Kar Sevaks for demolishing the Babri Mosque, glorifying their act as one of courage and devotion.

Sudele’s public targeting of Muslims is not new. In October 2021, he led a Bajrang Dal mob in Bhopal that vandalised the set of filmmaker Prakash Jha’s web series Aashram. Accusing Jha of insulting Hinduism, the group ransacked the area and smeared ink on the filmmaker. Sudele was among the seven people named in the FIR, but was granted bail within a day.

His history with the law is longer and more serious. In 2014, a Bhopal court sentenced him to 14 years in prison for his involvement in a 2011 murder conspiracy. He secured bail in 2015 and returned to political and street activity shortly after. He is also related to senior BJP leader and former Bhopal Mayor Alok Sharma, underscoring his close ties to the political establishment in Madhya Pradesh.
