Deepak Sharma is a violent Hindu supremacist, known for his consistent Islamophobic content and hate speech. He claims to be a journalist and a nationalist, with a large following of over 140k on X (formerly Twitter).

Sharma is also the founder of propagandist “news agency” “Aapka Bharat”, and the founder of the Rashtriya Swabhiman Dal (RSD), an organization he claims is focused on defending Hinduism and protecting national interests.

In January 2025, amid wildfires in Los Angeles, a video of individuals carrying goods from a fire-damaged home went viral. Sharma shared the footage, falsely labeling the individuals as “infiltrator Jihadis” and making racist, communal remarks. He claimed that sheltering such people would lead to the ruin of the home, state, and country, fueling harmful stereotypes and furthering division.

Sharma did not delete the tweet and it has over 200k views and 5.8k likes.

Sharma first gained notoriety through a disturbing video where he attacked a defenseless boy on camera, accusing him of making ‘memes’ that mocked Hindu gods and goddesses. Sharma defended the violent Facebook livestream, claiming it was intended to “raise awareness.”

Sharma first gained attention in 2021 when he demanded the enactment of an “anti-blasphemy” law. His public threat to the creators of the web series Tandav sparked a wave of violent hate speech. Sharma’s followers, largely from the right-wing fringe, echoed his calls for violence against Muslims, whom he derogatorily refers to as “jihadis.” He later amplified his hate speech with calls for the murder of Muslims, furthering the divisive narrative.

Despite being based in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, Sharma misrepresents his origins, claiming to hail from Jaipur, possibly to avoid scrutiny. He has actively campaigned for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), particularly during the 2022 Uttar Pradesh elections, where he hoped to secure a political ticket. Sharma has publicly supported Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, calling him “Bulldozer Baba,” and praised his controversial “encounter” policies.

Sharma’s hate speech campaign has been ongoing for years, with a history of disturbing actions and statements. His involvement in controversial activities like attempting to offer Hindu prayers at the Taj Mahal and his verbal abuse of Muslims has drawn significant criticism. Despite a personal tragedy involving one of his associates, Sharma’s continued hate-fueled rhetoric has made him a key figure in India’s growing climate of religious intolerance.

In 2018, Indian Express reported that 500 Facebook accounts of Deepak Sharma had been deleted. However, his accounts continue to reappear.
