Ajay Sehrawat, a BJP Delhi spokesperson, is known for spreading fake news and targeting Muslims. With over 98,000 followers on X (formerly Twitter), he regularly posts misleading content, fueling communal tensions.

Sehrawat’s claims have been debunked several times. In January 2023, Sehrawat posted a tweet claiming that Illegal encroachment was removed on the order of the court in Haldwani, and that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s close friend Imran Pratapgarhi is saying that Durga Maa’s temple should also be removed.

Sehrawat’s claim that Congress MP Imran Pratapgarhi called for the destruction of a Durga temple in Haldwani is false and misleading. Sehrawat shared a clipped portion of a 2019 video where Pratapgarhi recited poetry against mob lynching, entirely unrelated to the Haldwani encroachment issue.

The original video (now deleted) contained no mention of Haldwani, temples, or calls for destruction. Instead, it addresses incidents of mob violence targeting Muslims. Sehrawat used this unrelated video to falsely allege that Pratapgarhi wanted a Durga temple removed. Even though Sehrawat’s claim was debunked, he never deleted the tweet.

In February 2022, Sehrawat again shared a video claiming that “Pakistan Zindabad” slogans were raised during a campaign rally for SP-RLD candidate Neeraj Chaudhary. This claim was also amplified by BJP spokesperson Navin Kumar Jindal and Zee News journalist Sonu Sharma.

However, Neeraj Chaudhary debunked the claim, explaining that the chants were actually “Aqif Bhai Zindabad,” referring to Aqif Ansari, a local community leader present at the rally. The video clearly shows supporters chanting slogans for Neeraj Chaudhary, Jayant Chaudhary, and Aqif Bhai.

The viral claim was baseless and intended to defame Chaudhary by misrepresenting the chants to stoke communal tensions.

But Sehrawat as usual never deleted his video, the video was reposted over two hundred times.

Ajay Sehrawat, BJP Delhi spokesperson, shared a hateful Facebook post in July 2020 claiming that “bad Muslims will keep killing Kaafir (non-Muslims) and the good Muslims will stay silent and keep telling people Islam is a religion of peace.” Despite its inflammatory nature, Sehrawat never deleted the post. This allowed the comments section to become a hub for hate speech, with his followers spreading more hatred toward Muslims.

Sehrawat shared a misleading video on Facebook, claiming that a violent incident in Aligarh’s Hamdard Nagar was due to communal tensions in a Muslim-majority area. He alleged that gangster Akram alias Tippa shot a doctor, calling it another instance linked to the “religion of peace.”

However, an Alt News report clarified that the incident was the result of a personal altercation, not a communal conflict. Dr. S.U. Khan and his son Aman were injured after an argument with Akram over a road collision. While Akram fired a shot that injured Aman and attacked Dr. Khan, there was no evidence of a sectarian motive. Police registered an attempt-to-murder case and are pursuing the accused.

Sehrawat’s claim deliberately emphasized the perpetrator’s religion while omitting the fact that the victims were also Muslim, creating a false narrative of communal violence. This misrepresentation stoked unnecessary tensions and misled social media users.
